Assistant Health and Social Services EBA Assistant Health and Social Services EBA Vocational Basic Education Occupational Field 21 Health Activities Training Assistants in Health and Social Services help people learn in professional practice in everyday life. They support people with dressing and undressing, washing, shaving, and hair cutting. The professionals accompany people to the toilet and help with eating and drinking. They measure weight, temperature, and pulse and administer medication. They also accompany people to appointments, clean rooms, and do shopping. 1 day per week at the vocational school They perform the following activities: Inter-company courses Learn, deepen, and practice professional basics, help people in everyday life 24 days over 2 years. Help people with dressing and undressing, wash, shave, and cut their hair. Accompany people to the toilet, prepare aids such as bedside commodes, and empty urine bags where necessary. Apply creams, bandage legs, and put on medical stockings. Measure weight, height, temperature, or pulse. Lay down and reposition bedridden people, i.e., adjust their lying position. Participate and support in health and body care. Protect own health, for example, by properly lifting people out of bed without straining the back. Accompany and support clients in everyday life - help people with eating and drinking. Support in household tasks. Observe and implement hygiene and safety. Monitor changes in health status and inform medical staff in case of emergency. Participate in administration, logistics, and personnel work organization. Develop and observe professional roles and collaboration. Administer medication. Organize work and perform administrative tasks. Provide people with a structured daily routine, such as organizing games or events. Set tables and clean the dining room. Clean rooms. Check equipment. Write shopping lists and go shopping. Sort, wash, dry, iron, and care for laundry. Fill out forms on the computer. They are part of teams with health professionals, specialists, and additional training. Assistants in Health and Social Services EBA usually complete a shortened apprenticeship as a health professional EFZ or as a care professional EFZ. Assistants in Health and Social Services work in nursing and care homes, institutions for people with disabilities, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, psychiatric clinics, or with home care services.
