The Cantonal Hospital Obwalden is an innovative, versatile primary care hospital in Central Switzerland with clinics for General, Trauma and Visceral Surgery, Orthopaedics, Internal Medicine, ENT, Urology, Ophthalmology, Women’s Clinic as well as Anaesthesia.
For our interdisciplinary Emergency Department and Emergency Practice we are looking for a from 1 December 2026 or by arrangement, a

Med. Practice Assistant (MPA) Emergency Reception and Emergency Practice (a) 40 - 70%

With deployment on about two weekends per month and public holidays (10:00 - 19:00)

Your Tasks

• You are the first point of contact at the reception of our emergency department for patients and relatives.
• You advise our emergency patients, relatives and referrers professionally and competently on administrative matters.
• You operate the telephone switchboard of the emergency reception.
• Various administrative and organisational tasks such as recording patient data, sending emergency medical reports to general practitioners will also be your duties.
• You record services according to Tardoc.
• You are responsible for processing emails as well as collecting deposit payments.
• Assisting with wound care, ECG, blood sampling, applying splint materials, injections

Your Profile

• You have completed training as a medical practice assistant, health care specialist or medical secretary.
• You have experience with common IT programmes.
• Resilience, structured thinking, motivation and a sense of responsibility are further qualities of yours.
• High social competence and very good communication skills help you in everyday emergency work.
• You have a strong customer and service orientation.
• You have very good German skills in spoken and written form. Knowledge of English and French is also an advantage.
• You are willing to work 2x per month on a weekend or public holiday.
