About the job
Head of Processing Department / Deputy Office Manager 80 - 100%At the heart of the economy! This is where we operate at the Commercial Register Office of the Canton of Zurich, processing over 70,000 business cases each year with our approximately 80 employees. We are the central point of contact for all company registrations in the Canton of Zurich and thus make a significant contribution to transparency and legal certainty in commercial transactions.
Would you like to lead an important specialist department (commercial staff, paralegals, as well as lawyers) and at the same time help shape the future of our office? Do you combine legal expertise with modern leadership, digital thinking, and a clear view of the big picture? Then we look forward to meeting you!
As our new Head of the Processing Department, you will lead around 45 employees across four teams via the team leaders. You can start immediately or by arrangement.
These tasks await you
- You lead the Processing Department both professionally and personally and specifically develop your team leaders and employees.
- You provide orientation, agree on clear goals, and ensure that the department meets its qualitative and quantitative targets.
- You ensure uniform practice, high work quality, as well as efficient and customer-friendly registration procedures.
- You decide on complex or disputed commercial register matters, draft statements in appeal procedures, and participate in consultations.
- You promote professional exchange and strengthen collaboration across departmental boundaries.
- As a member of the management team, you actively shape strategies, projects, and the further development of the office. You provide early information on business progress, identify risks, and contribute viable solutions.
- In your role as deputy office manager, you assume overall responsibility and make necessary decisions in the absence of the office manager.
What you bring with you
- You have completed a Master’s degree in law or an equivalent legal qualification.
- You have many years of professional experience, including several years in a legal specialist area and at least three years in a demanding leadership role.
- You have a solid knowledge of company law, commercial register law, or a comparable legal field and are confident in complex administrative procedures.
- You have experience leading a larger organisational unit through leadership personnel and combine trust and freedom with clear expectations.
- You think strategically and conceptually while remaining close to operational business and consistently implement decisions.
- You actively drive change, question existing processes, and use digital technologies and new working methods with enthusiasm and curiosity.
- You communicate clearly, reliably, and appropriately for the audience. You see differing opinions as an opportunity for better solutions.
- You have very good German language skills. English and French skills are an advantage.
You can expect a lot
You will have a responsible key position with great scope for design and direct influence on the further development of the Commercial Register Office. Although we operate within a tight legal framework, we do not think in rigid patterns. We are digitally advanced, continuously improve our working methods, and maintain an open, straightforward collaboration. Challenging topics, clear decisions, and a good dose of humour all have their place with us.
Our offices are centrally located in Zurich. In addition, the Canton of Zurich offers progressive employment conditions and diverse opportunities for your professional and personal development.
