Internship «R Development & Data Science» 80 - 100%The Statistical Office of the Canton of Zurich provides the population, politics, administration, media and companies with independent and openly accessible data and statistical analyses of high quality. We promote data maturity and openness within the cantonal administration, publish our code publicly whenever possible and actively communicate about our work.
In our Data team, we are looking for an intern «R Development & Data Science» 80%-100% from 15 August 2026 for 12 months.
Your new team and you
- You answer exciting questions from the population and administration with individual evaluations. In doing so, you learn to use different data sources and to present statistical data and analyses to a broad audience in a contemporary manner.
- You support us in the further development and maintenance of our existing codebase in R. This includes, among other things, packages, pipelines and templates.
- We write code that others like to use easily. We share our knowledge across departmental boundaries. You help us to meet the needs of different target groups in the administration and to make our tools usable.
This internship is for you if
- you care about working for the common good and orienting yourself to the needs of users.
- You have coded your first projects in R and want to develop from loose scripts to your first own package. Or you have advanced knowledge in Python and want to get familiar with R.
- You like to learn new things, want to develop yourself further and want to contribute actively.
- You are fluent in German, both spoken and written (C2).
