Specialist Nursing Responsibility Crisis Intervention Unit

At the crisis intervention unit of the University Psychiatric Centre (UPZ) Bern, you accompany adults in acute mental crises and support them in regaining stability and orientation. At the UPZ location at the Inselspital, you will find a specialised acute psychiatric environment where professional competence, swift action, and human closeness are required daily. As the specialist nursing responsibility, you bring your experience purposefully and actively shape the nursing development of the unit. You strengthen the team in complex nursing situations, promote evidence-based nursing, and set professional impulses together with the unit management and the interprofessional team.

Your tasks

• You take on the specialist responsibility for nursing on the unit and promote high-quality, patient-oriented care
• You advise and support nursing professionals with complex nursing issues and strengthen the professional competence within the team
• You actively shape the nursing process and support a professional, evidence-based implementation in daily unit routines
• You lead case discussions and promote professional as well as interprofessional exchange
• You develop nursing concepts and processes further together with the unit management and implement new findings into practice
• You initiate and accompany measures for nursing development and quality assurance
• You work actively in direct nursing and bring your expertise directly into the treatment of people in acute mental crises

Your profile

• You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a diploma as a nursing specialist HF/FH and are willing to complete the bachelor’s degree
• You have professional experience in psychiatry, ideally in an acute psychiatric environment
• You enjoy helping to shape nursing developments and sharing your expertise within the team
• You work in a structured, independent, and responsible manner and maintain an overview even in demanding situations
• You possess high social and self-competence and present yourself confidently and reliably as a professional contact person
• You value interprofessional collaboration and advocate for patient- and evidence-oriented nursing
• You have good German language skills, both spoken and written
