About the job
The University Psychiatric Centre Bern (UPZ) stands for high-quality psychiatric care, research and teaching. In this position, you will assume senior consultant functions with extensive responsibility in the treatment of forensic patients.
We are looking for a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy to start immediately or by arrangement, who is interested in working as part of a committed interdisciplinary team in our outpatient clinic on Südbahnhofstrasse. The outpatient clinic treats mentally ill individuals who have committed offences and live in the community. In addition to patients living freely – who are treated under criminal law measures, mostly under Art. 63 – patients of the forensic residential home FoWo (Art. 59) are also cared for. Disorder-specific treatments as well as offence-oriented treatments are carried out. Both psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacological methods are used. In the outpatient clinic, you will supervise our assistant doctors in training. Your work periods in our clinic can also be recognised for the specialist title in Forensic Psychiatry and Psychotherapy (Category A, 2 years). In addition, you will have the opportunity to complete the requirements necessary for the specialist title.

- You actively engage in the education and training for the specialty of psychiatry at the University of Bern
- You support ongoing research projects and can develop your own projects within the framework of the clinic’s research concept if interested
Your profile
- You hold a specialist title in psychiatry and psychotherapy or are close to obtaining it
- You have already acquired or wish to acquire the specialist title in Forensic Psychiatry at our training centre
- Experience in forensic psychiatry and psychotherapy, including expert report work, is advantageous
