Oracle Database Engineer at the Information Systems Department
The Information Systems Department of CHUV is looking for an Oracle Database Engineer.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research and education.
Within the Information Systems Department (ISD), you will manage and administer the company’s data management systems, ensure data consistency, quality and security, participate in the definition and implementation of databases and software packages selected by the company, make structural changes, and present reports on database activity.
Mission
- You deploy and manage data servers (administration, automation, procedure development, security and access authorisation, optimisation of processes and queries)
- You provide second-level technical support for all databases
- You ensure the integrity, availability and security of databases
- You participate in the choice and implementation of databases (deploy database management software, adapt, administer and maintain these software)
- You test and validate, from a technical perspective, the software and packages selected by the institution
- You work closely with infrastructure, application and operational security teams
- You perform operational tasks outside working hours (evenings and weekends)
- You participate in an on-call service.
Profile
- You hold a degree in computer engineering or an equivalent qualification
- You have at least 7 years’ experience in a database engineer role in an operational and production environment
- You have excellent knowledge of Oracle infrastructure administration and supervision, particularly Oracle ExaC@C
- You have experience with high availability (Dataguard, RAC, Oracle ExaC@C)
- You possess very strong skills in performance optimisation
- You have the ability to diagnose and resolve complex production incidents
- You have good knowledge of backups, restorations and Disaster Recovery plans as well as good skills in automating operational tasks
- You have acquired excellent knowledge of Oracle, RAC, Dataguard, ASM, OEM
- You master diagnostic and tuning tools
- You have very good knowledge of Linux and good knowledge of Linux shell scripting (Ansible is a plus)
- ITIL and/or Oracle certification would be an advantage
- Additional knowledge that would be a plus: Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, ITIL, Centreon monitoring platforms, Oracle Enterprise Manager, OEM, RMAN backup tools, Dell DDBEA and Dell PPDM.
Depending on your profile, the salary grade will be between level 11 and level 12.
