Job Description
Job Purpose / Reason for the position:
The laboratory technician will be responsible for performing routine analyses and special or complex analyses independently. Managing simple analytical development projects, as well as supervising apprentices or interns, will also be an integral part of the role.
Responsibilities
- Perform special/complex analyses according to given objectives. Interpret analysis results and propose conclusions and/or other analyses to be performed.
- Development/optimization of laboratory procedures.
- Manage analytical methods related to existing processes.
- Support the development of new analytical methods; manage simple projects for the development of new methods.
- Master and use several specific equipment according to the laboratory organization. Take responsibility for the proper functioning and servicing of these devices.
- Ensure knowledge of HSEQ risks and comply with HSEQ rules related to the activity.
- Execute work efficiently, using equipment appropriately.
- Ensure that all experimental results, laboratory notebooks, and test reports are structured, well-written, and up to date.
- Identify modifications/improvements to laboratory procedures.
- Ensure the organization of the workplace (chapel, laboratory tables, office) is clean and safe.
Qualifications
- Laboratory technician apprenticeship with CFC (or equivalent) and with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
- In-depth knowledge of analytical methods and mastery of chromatographic techniques (HPLC and GC), knowledge in spectroscopy and elemental analysis is an asset.
- Mastery of the safe and effective handling of used equipment.
- Good report writing skills.
- Mastery of computer systems in use in the laboratory.
- Fluent French and knowledge of English is an asset.
