About the job
The Civil Engineering Office, with its approximately 160 employees, takes care of the city streets, utilities, green spaces, and playgrounds—in short: various infrastructures that shape the daily life of the population. The city nursery at Pestalozzistrasse 48 in Thun is part of the Civil Engineering Office within the Support and Services division of the City of Thun. It produces a variety of plants for the flower shop, the city cemeteries, as well as for the seasonal floral decorations of the City of Thun.

From 1 August 2027, we offer an apprenticeship in the city nursery
Your tasks:
- You propagate and cultivate ornamental plants for indoor and outdoor areas and learn how to care for them seasonally
- You carry out watering tasks and ensure careful weed control
- You commit to biodiversity and help protect plants and use beneficial insects purposefully
- During the season, you learn the basics of product presentation and assist in sales
- You work outdoors as well as in the greenhouse and handle tools or machines skilfully
You bring with you:
- Good school education in natural sciences and mathematics
- Joy and interest in plants and nature
- Good imagination and enjoyment of working with machines
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather and to support weekend or holiday shifts
- Manual and technical skills and physical fitness
