The Department of Women, Children and Adolescents (DFEA) is tasked with providing quality care tailored to the needs of women at every stage of their lives and addressing the health issues faced by newborns, children and adolescents from birth up to the age of 16. For many years, the Department of Women, Children and Adolescents has continuously developed cutting-edge services and centres of expertise in several medical specialties.
The Paediatric Pneumology Unit, attached to the paediatric specialties service of the DFEA, manages all respiratory pathologies in children, from birth to adolescence (asthma, cystic fibrosis, sleep disorders, rare diseases, etc.). ( enfants-ados.hug.ch )
It relies on recognised hospital and outpatient clinical, academic and research activity, a comprehensive technical platform (respiratory function tests, specialised tests, bronchial endoscopy, sleep laboratory), as well as a multidisciplinary approach.
Job Description
As part of the temporary replacement of one of the unit's senior doctors, you will carry out clinical and academic activities within the paediatric pneumology team.
You will independently and under the supervision of the medical hierarchy, manage the care of hospitalised and outpatient paediatric pneumology patients (very varied pathologies: asthma, obstructive respiratory diseases in young children, acute or chronic infectious respiratory diseases, cystic fibrosis, ciliary dyskinesia, respiratory pathology related to prematurity, follow-up of oncology patients, non-invasive ventilation, interstitial lung diseases, respiratory control disorders).
You will participate in and collaborate closely with other paediatric specialties and partner services (close collaboration notably with the general paediatrics, ENT, immunology, allergology, paediatric intensive care and neonatology, surgery, paediatric oncology, general paediatrics services).
Working in a stimulating university environment within a multidisciplinary team, you will also contribute to the supervision and training of junior doctors as well as interns. You will participate in postgraduate teaching and continuing education within the unit.
Dynamic, flexible and committed by nature, you will participate in and promote clinical research and the academic development of the unit.
You will participate in the on-call and standby system according to the service organisation.
Qualifications
You hold the federal medical diploma as well as an FMH specialisation in paediatrics or have training deemed equivalent by the Medical Professions Commission of the Federal Office of Public Health (MEBEKO).
You possess the cantonal practice licence or are able to obtain it before starting your position.
Confirmed clinical experience in paediatric pneumology with training in paediatric pneumology obtained or in progress is an asset.
Ideally, you have experience in bronchial endoscopy.
You are recognised for your excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills as well as your ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
