The Civil Engineering Office of the Canton of St.Gallen, with around 330 employees, plans, builds, and maintains a cantonal road network over 650 km long, thus ensuring a functioning infrastructure in the canton every day.
In this central key position, you will work closely with the cantonal engineer and ensure that strategy, processes, and communication interact effectively. With your leadership strength and implementation focus, you will shape the continuous development of the entire Civil Engineering Office.

Head of Central Services in the Civil Engineering Office (m/f/d)
Workload: 80-100%

What to expect
- Professional and personnel management of the Central Services with around eight employees
- Development of sound decision-making bases and ensuring the implementation of resolutions and decisions
- Responsibility for the areas of finance & controlling, process management, digitalisation, office IT, administration, public procurement, quality management, and scientific collaboration
- Further development of organisational structures, business processes, and quality management (including QM, ICS, and risk management)
- Management of budget, finance, and controlling processes including reporting and key figures
- Leadership of cross-departmental projects and implementation of transformation and digitalisation processes
- Responsibility for internal and external communication of the Civil Engineering Office in coordination with the departmental communications department
What distinguishes you
- University degree (FH/Uni), preferably in business administration or public management with knowledge in civil engineering, or training as a civil engineer with business administration further education
- Several years of leadership experience, ideally in the public sector
- Sound knowledge in finance, controlling, as well as organisational and process management
- Very good IT skills and a strong affinity for digitalisation topics
- Strategic and analytical thinking with pronounced implementation strength
- Structured, independent, and solution-oriented working style
- Very good oral and written communication skills as well as diplomatic tact
