Job description

This is a joint University Hospital and Faculty position as Head of the Cardiology Division, including a part-time professorial appointment. This position is attached to the Hospital and Academic Departments of Medicine.

The candidate must have extensive clinical experience in cardiology as well as recognised management, communication and leadership qualities, to lead a large university clinical division with a high activity level, recognised as a centre of excellence in Switzerland. Through their actions, the candidate will supervise, organise and develop the activity within their division which comprises four sectors: an inpatient sector, an interventional cardiology sector, an outpatient activities sector and a radiological examinations sector (ultrasounds and PET scans). They will need to maintain and strengthen existing relationships with other HUG departments, with the Diagnostic Department for cardiovascular imaging, and will also need to maintain and develop strong links with peripheral clinics and hospitals.

The ability to lead high-level research in the field of cardiology is required, as well as recognised skills in mentoring, team management and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Required qualifications and skills

Doctorate in medicine and specialisation in cardiology or equivalent qualifications.

Relevant experience in research leadership and teaching.

Publications in major international journals.

Through his/her action, the candidate will supervise, organise and develop the activity within his/her division which comprise four areas: inpatient care, interventional cardiology, outpatient services, and radiology (ultrasound and PET scans).

He/she will have to maintain and strengthen existing relationships with other HUG divisions, with the Diagnostic Department for cardiovascular imaging, and will also have to maintain and develop strong links with peripheral clinics and hospitals.

The ability to lead high-level research in the field of cardiology is required, as well as proven mentoring, team management and teaching skills at the pre-graduate and post-graduate levels.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Doctorate in Medicine and specialisation in Cardiology or equivalent qualifications.

Good knowledge of French (C1 level)

Relevant experience in research supervision and teaching.

Publications in major international peer-reviewed journals.
