CategoryPositionIn partnership with the Universities of Geneva, Lausanne, Neuchâtel, and Fribourg, the Doctoral Program in Medieval Studies aims to be an interdisciplinary platform. It seeks to bring together all doctoral candidates from the French-speaking region working on the Middle Ages and the Renaissance to create a common space for reflection.
The Doctoral Program in Medieval Studies pursues several objectives:
Support and strengthen doctoral training in Medieval Studies at the Swiss level, by providing doctoral candidates with facilitated access to specialists from other fields of study. The doctoral program is conceived as a place for exchanges intended to encourage professional development and autonomy of doctoral candidates.
Promote truly interdisciplinary research. The doctoral program aims to support and encourage networking among doctoral candidates; thus, they will have the opportunity to meet their peers, create synergies, and confront academic cultures different from their own. While deepening their scientific knowledge, they will be able to more easily connect with high-level researchers.
Enable the valorization of research and increase doctoral candidates' communication skills, by promoting the acquisition of concrete experience in presenting their research results and scientific popularization. The wide range of transversal training offered by CUSO usefully complements the more specific program in Medieval Studies.
Raise awareness of the diversity of acquired skills, allow identification of transferable know-how and knowledge. The doctorate offers very high-level training and promotes the acquisition of solid knowledge and valuable skills. The doctoral program helps doctoral candidates to better master their professional future, academic or non-academic, and to gain visibility as well as scientific credibility.
