Job Description

To support this mission, Syngenta's hiring team is seeking an Onsite Automation Engineer in Muttenz, Switzerland.
As a member of the Support Team Engineering, the Automation Engineer is responsible for the technical availability, optimisation, and expansion of the automation systems (DeltaV/Simatic/SIS) for buildings, production, and infrastructure facilities, taking into account internal and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the Emerson DeltaV process control system as well as various bus and third-party systems
- Programming of control and visualisation systems or control systems (DeltaV, Simatic S5/S7, SIS)
- Experience in implementation projects for OT network conversions
- Experience in managing electrical concepts and installations
- Responsible for the availability/harmonisation/optimisation of the currently existing DeltaV system across the entire production facility
- Creates and reviews functional specifications as templates for DeltaV coding
- Develops DeltaV code (Equipment Module, recipes) and creates process graphics
- Provides technical guidance for Capex projects to implement the developed technical standards of the plant
- Project responsibility for planning and execution of Support Team Engineering internal automation projects for buildings, production, and infrastructure facilities
- Acts as a support function for the creation/optimisation of DeltaV recipes in close collaboration with the responsible process owners
- Accompanies FAT on the DeltaV test system and supports the phases and EM tests in the plant
- Develops, together with the engineering team, the new direction of production towards multipurpose plants
- Maintains and optimises the alarm management system including building the reporting tool using OSIsoft Pi with DeltaV data
- Coordinates employees in relevant workflows
Qualifications
- Degree in a technical field, preferably in electrical/automation or chemical process engineering
- In-depth DeltaV knowledge (system architecture, coding, application) is essential
- Basic understanding of project management principles, documentation of technical changes, and risk analyses
- Several years of experience in IEC 61131, control system or SCADA integration
- Familiar with the state of the art and methodology in engineering in the process industry
- Solid knowledge of modern standards and current trends in process automation
- Experience with software development methods and software architectures is desirable
- Knowledge of fieldbus systems and industrial networks, e.g. Profibus, HART or Foundation Fieldbus
- Structured working style and ability to analyse and solve complex technical problems in a goal-oriented manner
- Experience in defining concept development projects and managing projects with changing requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in industrial automation, preferably in the chemical/pharmaceutical industry and with support of DeltaV systems
- Project experience is an advantage
- Good knowledge of MS Office and other standard programmes; SAP-PM and COMOS knowledge is an advantage
- Languages: German + English; French is an advantage
