The St. Gallen Cantonal Police ensures peace, security, and order in the canton of St. Gallen around the clock. It investigates crimes and monitors compliance with applicable laws.
The Police Prisons Department is responsible for the operation of the four police prisons in the canton. For the St. Gallen prison, which has over 24 cells and primarily serves investigative and security detention.
