We are looking for a motivated person for the role of Senior Cloud Data Engineer. You have a flair for data and AI with experience in implementing complex distributed data platforms and applications to process heterogeneous and large data volumes. Ideally, a person experienced in analytics technologies such as SQL, DBT Spark, Python, and various databases, as well as well acquainted with cloud infrastructure (Databricks, Azure, Fabrics, AWS).
As a Senior Cloud Data Engineer, you work in several teams including data engineers, architects, and scientists to build and operate state-of-the-art data analytics platforms. The role requires technical skills in analytics ecosystems with a focus on cloud infrastructure and open-source software.
- You participate in one or more cloud data platform projects and independently implement high-quality data pipelines and cloud data infrastructures. You coordinate requirements with the customer and act as a coach for less experienced team members.
- You share responsibility for the design, code, and configuration of components that manage data ingestion, real-time streaming, batch processing, data extraction, and transformation across multiple data sources and applications.
- You ensure that your solutions meet customer requirements regarding functionality, performance, availability, scalability, security, and reliability.
- You assist in creating proposals for customer projects.
- You share your experience within the team and help leverage synergies between projects.
- You collaborate with business analysts and data scientists to understand and realise their use cases.

Your profile
- University degree ETH/UNI/FH with several years of programming experience in Python, Java, or Scala
- At least 5 years of implementation skills with analytics technologies such as SQL, DBT, Spark, Kafka and programming experience in Python
- Experience with Scala and classic ETL tools such as Talend or SSIS is a plus
- At least 3 years of experience in delivering and automating cloud solutions in Azure, AWS, GCP, Kubernetes with Terraform or comparable tools
- Know-how in SQL and NoSQL databases, e.g. PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Databricks or MS SQL Server
- Experience in data modelling and data governance
- Experience with the entire software development lifecycle: coding standards, code reviews, source code management, continuous integration/deployment, testing, and operation
- Data warehouse as well as data mesh knowledge complete the profile
- Fluent in German and English
