Employee Sorting Plant 60 - 80 % (m/f/d)
The clothing centre collects and sorts around 600 tonnes of used clothes and shoes annually for meaningful and targeted reuse at home and abroad. An important part of the collected clothes is sold in Switzerland. The operation includes the sorting plant, the warehouses, two textile shops and the administration.
Your tasks
- Professional and organisational leadership as well as support of employees from different groups
- Sorting of new and used secondhand clothing and shoes
- Allocation and categorisation of goods by size, gender, season and quality standards
- Inspection of incoming clothing donations regarding completeness, cleanliness and condition. Preparation of goods for transfer, storage or sale in the shops: washing, labelling, folding, packaging
- Promotion of work integration as well as support in the induction and development of employees
- Ensuring an efficient, high-quality and smooth workflow in the area of textile sorting and goods preparation
- Co-responsibility for order, cleanliness and occupational safety in the entire work area
Our requirements
- Experience: No formal training required; experience in warehousing, sorting or clothing sales / fashion knowledge is an advantage
- Physical resilience
- Teamwork and reliability
- Assumption of responsibility for partial areas
- Sense of responsibility
- Patience and social skills in dealing with volunteers, school classes, asylum seekers and participants in community work
- Good German skills are an advantage
- Interest in sustainability and recycling of textiles and shoes
- Basic knowledge of merchandise, sorting processes as well as further training in recycling and sustainability is an advantage
