About the job
Caritas St.Gallen-Appenzell is the aid organisation of the Diocese of St.Gallen. We are committed with concrete offers and social engagement to people affected by poverty, marginalised and in need.
Do you speak Church and Caritas?
Church and Caritas share a common mission: supporting people, taking social responsibility and living solidarity concretely. Different experiences, perspectives and ways of working come together in this. This is precisely where opportunities lie to learn from each other and to make a difference together. We are looking for a personality who knows these worlds, creates connections and shapes the diaconal mission with conviction and joy.
Department Head Diakonia (40-50 %)
- You maintain and shape the collaboration between Caritas St.Gallen-Appenzell, the Diocese of St.Gallen and other church partners.
- You bring social professional experience and perspectives into church committees and development processes and promote the dialogue between Church and Caritas.
- You connect theological, social and socio-political questions and contribute to the strategic further development of our organisation.
- You engage in regional and national church and social networks.
- You lead the Diakonia Animation department with four employees and help shape its educational and project work.
- You are a member of the management team and contribute your professional perspective there.
- A theological education, sound knowledge of the Catholic Church and ideally good networking within the Diocese of St.Gallen.
- A pronounced understanding of social and socio-political issues as well as the life realities of disadvantaged people.
- Enjoyment of dialogue, the ability to bring together different perspectives and a good sense of institutional contexts.
- Strategic thinking, initiative and willingness to take responsibility for a small team. Leadership experience is welcome but not a prerequisite.
- Strong communication skills, openness, patience and a healthy sense of humour.
Start date: 01.01.2027 or by arrangement.
