Junior Legal Advisor Central Switzerland, 50-80 %
Refugees, persecuted and/or threatened people should receive adequate protection in Switzerland. Caritas Switzerland gives these people a voice and advocates for fair procedures. For this purpose, Caritas Switzerland offers legal advice and representation in asylum and immigration law to those affected in the Central Swiss cantons of Lucerne, Nidwalden, Obwalden, Schwyz, Uri, and Zug as well as in Fribourg, Jura, and Neuchâtel. With the introduction of the new asylum procedure in Switzerland, asylum seekers are entitled, among other things, to legal protection in the extended asylum procedure. Particularly complex cases or those requiring further clarification are assessed within this framework by the State Secretariat for Migration. We offer an interesting and varied working environment in a motivated team at the interface of law and social commitment.
Your tasks
- Engagement during the introductory phase (insight into all areas of activity of the lawyers, case management in tandem)
- Independent work with team support after familiarization
- Case management in selected mandates
- Consultation meetings with asylum seekers
- Participation in hearings
- Preparation of legal submissions and complaints
- Legal and country-specific clarifications
- Work in open consultation
Our requirements
- University degree in law (Master of Law)
- Very good German and good English skills. French and/or Italian skills are an advantage
- Enthusiasm and motivation
- Teamwork skills
- Interest in migration, social policy, and international issues
- Basic knowledge of asylum and immigration law
- Enjoy working and collaborating with people from different cultures
Workplace is Lucerne.
Start date: June 1, 2026, or by arrangement.
The position is limited until 31.05.2027.
