Co-Head of Department Electrical/Electronics 100%

The Electrical/Electronics Department of the Technical Vocational School Zurich TBZ is the centre of expertise for the training and further education of electrical and electronics professions. Around 1400 apprentices are taught in basic education, complemented by a further education programme with about 130 students in courses preparing for professional examinations, advanced professional examinations and certificate qualifications.

Your tasks
Due to retirement, we are looking for a personality for the Co-Head of Department Electrical/Electronics starting from the spring semester 2027 or by arrangement. You will lead the department together with your co-leadership partner in genuine shared responsibility. The management of the department is not carried out along strictly separated responsibilities, but in close coordination and with jointly borne decisions across all essential areas. This particularly includes the personnel management and development of around 70 teachers, the planning and control of financial resources, ensuring reliable school operations as well as the continuous further development of teaching and courses. In this role, you are a member of the extended school management and actively contribute to the further development of the entire school. You operate in an environment that demands both operational reliability and conceptual thinking, and you help to further develop the department and the TBZ as a whole. Your teaching obligation amounts to 10 weekly lessons.

Your profile
We are addressing a strong leadership, integrative personality with pronounced communication skills and the ability to make clear decisions and take responsibility even in demanding situations. You have several years of teaching experience at secondary level II as well as a completed university degree (FH, ETH or university) in electrical engineering/electronics, a related field or a teaching diploma ABU. The teaching diploma for vocational schools (EHB, PHZH or an equivalent qualification) in a full-time capacity is mandatory.
Experience in managing staff as well as dealing with change processes is an advantage. Crucial is your ability to bundle different interests, develop viable solutions and consistently implement them together with your counterpart in co-leadership. You think systemically, act reliably and keep an overview even in complex situations.
