Vice-Rectorate for Research and Innovation

The position is limited to 6 months (maternity cover)
The Vice-Rectorate for Research and Innovation aims to provide researchers with an ideal environment in all areas to ensure and promote high-quality research at the University of Bern. This includes demand-oriented support and advisory services as well as scientific integrity and research ethics or digitalization and open science.
For the processing of these topics, the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Innovation of the University of Bern is looking for a Research Associate Digitalization & Open Science at 60-80% from November 15, 2025, for 6 months (maternity cover).
Tasks
During the maternity cover, you will work with the staff of the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Innovation as well as other units of the central administration and faculty members on projects, events, and concepts related to open science and digitalization in research. In addition, you will support the Open Science department in strategic topics and the further development of services for researchers at the University of Bern.
For these demanding tasks, you will apply your skills in analyzing the needs of different stakeholders, advising and networking them, pursuing project goals in a structured and cooperative manner, and supporting various activities communicatively.
Requirements
- University degree
- Affinity for topics of research culture, especially open science, and digital transformation
- Knowledge of quality perspectives in the higher education sector
- Understanding of organizational and political concerns in the higher education context
- Experience in project and event management as well as communication
- Good verbal and written expression
- English skills in spoken and written form
- High independence, solution-oriented and organized working style
- Communicative, curious, and flexible personality
