Your new role

As a commercial clerk at the City of St.Gallen, you will gain a comprehensive insight into public administration. During your training, you will get to know various departments and actively participate in day-to-day business.

A central part of your role is contact with the public. You will serve our customers at the counter, by telephone, or in writing, and advise them competently on various matters.

During your apprenticeship, you will rotate through various offices, such as population services, personnel services, tax office, debt enforcement office, building permit office, children youth leisure, fire brigade/civil protection, social services, finance, school and music, or location promotion. This will give you a broad and practical insight into the diverse tasks of a city administration.

Your tasks

• Advising and supporting customers at the counter, by telephone, and in writing
• Processing applications, enquiries, and administrative tasks
• Working in various offices as part of the rotation
• Supporting the teams in day-to-day business
• Complying with legal requirements and internal processes

Fair remuneration:

1st year of apprenticeship: CHF 770.–

2nd year of apprenticeship: CHF 980.–

3rd year of apprenticeship: CHF 1,380.–

Monthly performance bonus for good results at vocational school and in the training company
