About the job
As the fifth largest canton in Switzerland with around 6000 employees, we at the cantonal administration are committed to the common good of society. With an impressive variety of services, our work touches all areas of life, be it education, economy, law, security, nature, health, construction, culture, and finance. Through our meaningful work, we leave a small footprint every day, as it is relevant to over half a million people.
The Office for Social Affairs monitors and initiates developments in the social sector for the benefit of children and young people, families, people in social difficulties, elderly persons, people with a migration background, and people with disabilities, as well as organisations and institutions that support these target groups. The Department of Ageing and Disability is responsible for shaping ageing policy involving municipalities and other key actors in the canton of St. Gallen. We ensure the monitoring of services and promote integrated approaches. Additionally, we are responsible for needs-based housing, employment, and workshop services, their approval and supervision, as well as financing for people with disabilities. Furthermore, we serve as the interface for disability policy measures and advocate in a cross-sectional role for accessibility and participation for people with disabilities.
