Supervisor Employment 80 - 100%The Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of eight main departments of JuWe and, with 399 places, the largest closed JVA in Switzerland for male offenders. It fulfils a central state function and, according to legal mandate, addresses the resocialisation of incarcerated persons and the protection of the public.
We are looking for a resilient personality with very high social competence from 1 January 2027 or by arrangement. Together with your experienced professional colleagues, you will supervise and support the incarcerated persons at the workplaces in the workshop of the Department of Age and Health (AGE).
Your tasks
- Responsibility for order and safety in the workshop facilities as well as co-designing a structured working day
- Close exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration with the AGE residential group as well as occasional weekend shifts
- Accompanying and motivating the older incarcerated persons in movement and sports activities
- Planning and coordinating individual employment assignments taking into account the abilities and resources of the incarcerated persons
- Professional guidance, supervision and promotion of a group of incarcerated persons in a decelerated workday
- Writing reports and assessments on the development and behaviour of the incarcerated persons
- Commitment as an active member of the company fire brigade
Your profile
- Basic vocational training (EFZ) or equivalent qualification as well as further training as a correctional services specialist; additional training in work pedagogy is an advantage
- Professional experience in a craft environment and interest in work pedagogical work with people
- Strong social skills and enjoyment in accompanying and supporting people in special life situations
- Professional handling of closeness and distance in contact with incarcerated persons
- Team-oriented, flexible and resilient personality with a positive attitude
- Good German skills in spoken and written form as well as confident MS Office skills; foreign languages are a plus
- Minimum age 30 years and a clean record (no entries in criminal and debt registers)
