Ensure electricity in Switzerland
In this varied and demanding role, you are responsible for creating models and conducting studies for the long-term development of the transmission grid, focusing on voltage control analyses, system stability, and the integration of new technologies. In particular, you will take on the following tasks:
- Modelling the various components of the electrical energy system for dynamic analyses, including conventional equipment as well as power electronics-based plants
- Maintaining and further developing the network models used for planning and stability studies
- Conducting network studies (load flow, short circuit, RMS and EMT simulations) with a focus on voltage control and dynamic stability analyses
- Defining and reviewing technical requirements that connection applicants must comply with in the areas of system stability, voltage control, and voltage quality
- Analysing the dynamic behaviour of the electrical energy system and assessing the impact of new plants and technologies on the transmission grid
- Collaborating on projects together with network operators, producers, as well as national and international partners
- Accompanying and technically reviewing studies carried out by external partners
- Developing tools and automation scripts for conducting stability studies
- Representing Swissgrid in national and international working groups in your field of expertise
This is how you make a difference
We are looking for an independent, organised person with an analytical and interconnected way of thinking and good presentation skills. In addition, you bring the following profile:
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering, specialising in power grids, or a comparable qualification
- In-depth knowledge of the methods and equipment for static and dynamic voltage control
- Excellent knowledge in the calculation of power grids and voltage control, especially in the areas of load flow, short circuit, and dynamic analyses
- Knowledge of the electricity market and market models
- Experience with network simulation tools such as PSS/E, Neplan, and EMTP
- At least five years of experience in the field of network studies within the energy industry
- Knowledge of scripting programming (e.g. with Python and MATLAB)
- Very good German or French skills (at least one of the two languages) and good English skills
This is how we inspire you
We offer varied and exciting tasks in a company unique to Switzerland and a modern working environment in a motivated team. In addition, you can expect the following benefits:

About us
The Grid Development and Studies team, with eight employees, is responsible for studies on network development. We work with Swiss distribution network and power plant operators as well as with foreign TSOs. We are responsible for managing the network models and analyses for long-term planning. In doing so, we review network connection applications for the transmission grid and carry out the necessary studies to analyse the stability and dynamic behaviour of the system, taking into account the planned projects.
