Correctional Services and Reintegration
Relief Guard, fixed-term
In the Economy & Work (E&W) sector of the Pöschwies Correctional Facility, inmates work in various workshops and work areas. Work is an important part of the execution of sentences and makes a valuable contribution to reintegration into society.
For the E&W sector, we are looking for a flexible, resilient, and eager-to-learn individual with strong social skills and an interest in correctional services, starting immediately or by arrangement. The position is limited to two years.
This is what you will achieve with us
- Supporting our foremen/women in diverse and varied tasks in the workshops
- Taking on responsible safety, control, and supervisory duties as well as ensuring smooth operational processes
- Supervising and guiding inmates at various workplaces with the aim of promoting their personal and professional skills
- Providing work materials and conducting quality checks to ensure careful and timely completion of tasks
- Creating a safe and structured environment for inmates, staff, and external partners
- Active teamwork and shared responsibility for safety within the framework of emergency management
This is what you bring with you
- Completed technical-craft training and several years of professional experience in this field
- Ideally, you have experience in leading employees or supervising trainees
- Very good German language skills, both spoken and written, as well as solid IT user knowledge are required; foreign language skills are a plus
- With a quick grasp and high willingness to learn, you quickly familiarise yourself with new areas of responsibility
- You convince through team spirit, resilience, and flexibility and keep an overview even in demanding situations
- A minimum age of 25 years and an impeccable record complete your profile

The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of eight main departments of JuWe and the largest closed institution for men in Switzerland. With around 400 detention places and about 300 employees, it contributes according to legal mandate to the protection of the public and at the same time creates the conditions for the resocialisation of inmates.
We, as employees of the Pöschwies Correctional Facility, operate in an environment of high public interest. We work interdisciplinarily and ensure structured and responsible care of inmates.
With around 1400 employees, Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is the largest office within the Directorate of Justice and Home Affairs and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as for the execution of various types of detention. Our employees from around 40 professions support and promote the reintegration of offenders and are committed effectively and progressively to a safe and just society.
