About the job
Operational leadership role for an experienced professional from vault, cash centre, secure storage or valuables logistics. Very good German and good English skills.Head of High-Security Precious Metals Storage - Central Switzerland
Robert Walters supports an established, privately managed company in the precious metals sector. The clientele values the company for discretion, security and long-term thinking. Now the company is investing in a new, modern high-security storage facility in Central Switzerland.
Your role
An operational role with real responsibility. You will prepare the storage facility for opening and then manage it in daily operations, right in the thick of things and not from a distance.
In close collaboration with management, you will turn a high-security facility into a reliable, audit-proof operation. You will define and document the processes. Additionally, you will participate in goods receipt, transfers and inventories yourself, including the physical handling of precious metals. You will also recruit and train a small, professional team that will support you in daily operations.
This position is ideal for you if you enjoy hands-on work and are not afraid to get involved personally, especially during the setup phase.
Setup until opening
- Establish and document operational processes, controls, handovers and escalation procedures
- Implement practical processes for goods receipt, storage, inventory management and stocktaking, with records that withstand internal audits, customers, insurers and customs
- Contribute to ensuring that security measures function reliably in daily operations
- Work with a modern, fully traceable digital storage platform and help shape the tools and reports
- Recruit, onboard and train the team and lead by example from day one
- Build working relationships with valuables transporters, insurers, auditors and customs authorities
Daily operations, active on site
- Carry out and monitor deliveries and dispatches, storage, transfers and customer-related processes, including physical handling of precious metals and use of handling equipment
- Participate personally in regular and unannounced inventories, reconciliations and investigations of any discrepancies
- Apply daily controls consistently and escalate any irregularities calmly and promptly
- Maintain records correctly and audit-ready, and support audits and inspections
- Coordinate with valuables transport partners, insurers and, if necessary, customs authorities
- Competently guide customers during visits and explain the processes
- Lead, schedule and develop the team in daily operations and foster a culture of precision, discretion and responsibility
- Continuously improve processes as the operation grows
Advantages
- Experience with precious metals, bars or safekeeping of valuables
- Knowledge of customs procedures for non-cleared goods (e.g. customs bonded warehouse, open customs warehouse, Passar) or willingness to learn
- Experience in setting up a new site, a new function or significantly improving an existing operation
- Experience dealing with valuables transporters, insurers, auditors or customs authorities
- French language skills
We especially look forward to your application if you come from areas such as:
- Bank logistics, vault, cash centre, safe custody or physical safekeeping
- Army, armoury, police, aviation or other secure storage with controlled materials
- Valuables transport, valuables logistics or precious metals processing
- Watch and jewellery logistics or other high-value logistics
- Valuables or valuables departments in freight forwarding or air freight
- Customs warehouses or customs bonded warehouses
- Casino cash desk or other strictly regulated cash areas
Direct experience with bars is a plus but not a requirement. If you have worked practically in a disciplined environment with high trust and can demonstrate how you have protected and fully accounted for valuable goods, we would like to meet you. Specific training and support are provided.
Personal qualities
- Hands-on: you enjoy working yourself and being part of daily operations
- Calm, discreet and reliable, with a strong sense of responsibility
- Precise and well organised, with an eye for detail and what could go wrong
- Resilient enough to apply controls consistently and say no when necessary
- Resilient, and you prefer to escalate early rather than late
- You enjoy building structures where none exist yet
- You lead by example and convince through competence
We offer
- A newly created, operational role with real responsibility in a new high-security operation
- A long-term perspective in a company with which you can grow over many years
- Close collaboration with management and short decision-making paths
- A small team that you will help build and shape yourself
- A modern, purpose-built facility in Central Switzerland: a rare opportunity close to home for professionals from the region
- Attractive employment conditions
- Start ideally in the first quarter of 2027
Work location and hours
Central Switzerland. Full-time on site, Monday to Friday during the day, with occasional flexibility if required by operations. The exact location will be shared with suitable candidates during the process.
Confidentiality
Discretion is as important to you as it is to our client. Every application and conversation is treated with strict confidentiality. We only forward your documents with your explicit consent; the client’s name will be disclosed at the appropriate stage in the process.
