Part of Hôpital du Jura, located in Delémont (French-speaking Switzerland), the paediatrics department consists of an inpatient ward (9 general paediatrics beds, 3 neonatology 2A beds), a maternity unit (approx. 550 births/year), a paediatric emergency reception area (approx. 10,000 visits/year) and a consultation service - Mediped Centres Delémont and Porrentruy. The paediatrics department is a recognised training centre for paediatric residents accredited by the IFSM. Its mission is the medical-psycho-social and surgical care of patients aged between 0 and 16 years. The team works in close collaboration with the University Hospital of Basel.

Chief Consultant in Paediatric Medicine

Responsibilities

The chief consultant in paediatrics is a clinician trained in their specialty. They have a role in the direct care of patients, in teaching and supervising assistant doctors (residents) and interns (externs), and in managing patient flow under the supervision of a senior physician. They are subject to an in-hospital on-call service. These tasks and responsibilities include:

• Ensuring patient care.
• Supervising and training assistant doctors (residents) responsible for patient care.
• Proactively organising their work as well as the functioning of the department.
• Interacting with specialists for optimal care of young patients.
• Participating in the pre- and postgraduate training of the department (interns and assistants).

Qualifications

• You hold a FMH specialist title in paediatrics or have an equivalent training recognised at the European level by Mebeko.
• Ideally, you have at least 1 year of clinical experience in a paediatric medical-surgical emergency department or general paediatrics.
• You are proficient in French or able to acquire it quickly (level B2/C1).
• Another foreign language (English, German, Italian, Spanish, or other) is welcome.
• Your dynamism is infectious.
