At the public workshop on 6 September 2025 on the topic of school development at Primary School Wittenbach, participants left numerous feedbacks. The municipal council evaluated these – together with the education commission and the rectorate. Many wished for a pilot project before any possible introduction of mixed-age learning (AdL).
Over 100 interested persons took part in the public workshop on 6 September. At eight moderated table islands, citizens discussed specific questions – around the school, school development and political participation. At each station, written feedback could be left, which serves the municipal council as a decision aid for further proceedings.
Feedback evaluated jointly
The municipal council did not want to make a hasty decision without involving the responsible persons of the education commission and the rectorate. Therefore, the three bodies jointly evaluated the feedback and developed options for further action – especially on the topic of mixed-age learning (AdL), which has been the focus in recent months.
Recommendation for an AdL pilot project
The wish to carry out a pilot project before any possible introduction of AdL and to evaluate it carefully was mentioned several times on 6 September – a demand also expressed by the initiative committee "School development for our children" and the interest group (IG) "for the future of our children". The three bodies from the municipality and school attached great importance to this wish. In a jointly developed mood picture, they agreed by a large majority to recommend an AdL pilot project to the municipal council. Such a pilot project is to take place in only one school district. A start of the project would be realistic by summer 2027. Until the end of 2025, clarifications regarding organisation and rough costs of a possible pilot project, as well as possible structural adjustments, will be carried out.
Discussion evening with local parties and interest groups
The local parties, the initiative committee and the IG were invited on 4 November 2025 for an exchange to discuss this possible direction. Another meeting is planned for January 2026 before the municipal council makes a fundamental decision on whether to launch an AdL pilot project.
The municipal council thanks all participants of the public workshop for their interest and commitment in favour of the primary school.
