About the job
More than a theatre – the Casinotheater combines gastronomy, theatre and events under one roof. Our approximately 60 employees ensure daily that our guests leave the venue with a smile on their face. With more than 250 theatre performances, around 430 corporate and private events, and our restaurant Fredi, the Casinotheater Winterthur is one of the leading cultural and event venues in the region.
For our kitchen department, we are looking for an experienced and committed individual as HEAD CHEF (100%) starting 1 January 2027 or by arrangement.
WHAT YOU BRING
You have successfully completed further training as a head chef with a federal professional certificate. Further training as a federally certified head chef is an advantage. You have several years of leadership experience as a head chef or in a comparable role with overall responsibility and have already led a larger kitchen team. We expect solid experience both in demanding and contemporary à la carte gastronomy as well as in the banquet and event sector. You are a convincing leader and set high standards for quality, organisation and your team. You lead clearly, consistently and appreciatively and know how to develop employees both professionally and personally. You think and act entrepreneurially and have sound knowledge in budgeting, food costs, purchasing, costing, personnel deployment and cost control. You analyse key figures, recognise the need for action and consistently initiate the necessary measures. You work in a structured, solution-oriented and forward-looking manner, keep an overview even under high workload and impress with decisiveness, resilience and assertiveness. You are fluent and confident in spoken and written German. Good user knowledge of common digital work tools is expected; experience with MIRUS is an advantage.
YOUR TASKS
You bear overall responsibility for our kitchen department and lead a kitchen team of around 20 people. Together with your team, you ensure consistently high culinary quality for our restaurant Fredi as well as the entire banquet and event gastronomy. You continuously develop our culinary offerings, combining quality, craftsmanship, innovation, sustainability and economic efficiency. You are responsible for menu and offer planning, kitchen team scheduling, purchasing and inventory management, storage and stocktaking, as well as ongoing cost control. You also ensure compliance with all legal requirements as well as hygiene and occupational safety regulations. You continuously optimise processes and workflows, develop new gastronomic ideas and offers, thereby actively contributing to the qualitative and economic development of our gastronomy. You are responsible for the kitchen department budget and work closely with the gastronomy management and other departments of the Casinotheater. As a member of the extended management team, you also actively contribute to the cross-departmental development of the Casinotheater.
WHAT WE OFFER YOU
The Casinotheater Winterthur with its in-house restaurant Fredi is a fixed feature in the Winterthur gastronomy and cultural scene. You can expect a varied and responsible leadership role in an extraordinary environment between gastronomy, culture and events. You will have the opportunity to actively shape and further develop our kitchen department and, together with a well-coordinated team, shape the culinary future of the Casinotheater. If you have the relevant experience, want to take on responsibility and are looking for a demanding gastronomic leadership role, we look forward to receiving your complete application documents by e-mail to: Sarah McMaster Head of Gastronomy sarah.mcmaster@casinotheater.ch
