Municipal Court Office - Lawyer, fixed-term for one year (80% - 100%)
The Department of Security and Environment with its 440 employees includes the areas of city police, protection & intervention, registration and civil status services, environmental and health protection as well as the Municipal Court Office.
The Municipal Court Office is the municipal authority for minor offence penalties in the city of Winterthur. We conduct preliminary proceedings and prosecute offences and offenders in minor offence cases in close cooperation with the police.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a motivated, team-oriented person to start immediately or by arrangement for the versatile role in the Municipal Court Office. The position is particularly suitable for lawyers who wish to gain initial experience in criminal prosecution. There is the possibility to have the activity partially credited towards the internship period for the bar exam in the canton of Zurich (maximum 3 months after 6 months of employment).

Your Tasks
- Independent instruction, processing and completion of minor offence proceedings, mainly in the area of road traffic law (SVG) but also in general criminal law (StGB) and ancillary criminal law (PBG, AIG, BetmG etc.)
- Competent and service-oriented provision of legal information
- Deputising for the municipal judges during their absences
- Exchange and coordination with various official bodies
- Support of the secretariat with administrative tasks as they arise
Your Profile
- Completed law degree and initial professional experience related to criminal law (e.g. auditor at a court); practical experience in criminal prosecution is an advantage
- Interest and ability to engage with legal issues in a solution-oriented manner
- Precise, efficient, reliable and independent working style
- Very good German skills and confident written expression
- High social competence and team spirit as well as tact in dealing with various client groups
