The Migration Office operates daily in the exciting political environment of all migration issues. We are responsible for foreigner permits, enforce the federal foreigner and asylum law, issue biometric Swiss passports and foreigner identity cards, and provide care and integration in our asylum centers.
The Migration Office is looking for a
Clerk at the ID Office (m/f/d)
Starting August 1, 2026 or by arrangement
Workload: 50-80%
Workplace: City of St. Gallen
What to expect
- You receive passport and identity card orders by phone and coordinate appointment scheduling
- You efficiently and carefully check and process the online applications
- You record biometric data for Swiss passports, foreigner identity cards, and travel documents
- You competently advise customers by phone and at the information counter
- You work in a flexible annual working time model in a dynamic environment
What distinguishes you
- A completed commercial apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience (also from retail with office experience welcome), ideally supplemented by appropriate further training
- Strong customer orientation, high service orientation, and enjoyment in contact with people of diverse backgrounds
- Very good user skills in MS Office
- You work independently, structured, and reliably – even when things get hectic
- High flexibility and resilience as well as polished manners
