Specialist in IT or Legal Field as Deputy Head of the Data Protection Supervision Service

The new Data Protection Supervision Service started its activities on January 1, 2026. We are in the interesting process of establishing the service responsible for monitoring the application of data protection regulations by authorities in accordance with the new cantonal data protection law. Rapid technological developments and numerous connections with socially relevant issues make data protection an interesting and dynamic field of activity, characterized by multiple interdisciplinary aspects. The Data Protection Supervision Service is an independent body, administratively subordinate to the State Chancellery.
To complete our team, we are looking for a motivated and competent IT or legal specialist as head of the Data Protection Supervision Service starting August 1, 2026, or by agreement.
Responsibilities
- Data protection audits and opinions on IT projects that pose a high risk to the fundamental rights of natural or legal persons
- Support for those responsible for data protection in IT systems and processes as well as advice to administration services in developing solutions to minimize risks
- Consultation regarding data protection impact assessments as well as evaluation of protection needs analyses, risks, and SIPD plans (information security and data protection plans)
- Analysis of system architectures, data flows, and technical protection measures in relation to data protection regulations
- Assessment of data security breaches and support for their subsequent revision
- Monitoring technological developments (cloud, AI, encryption) and defining related regulatory requirements
What we expect from you
- Education in computer science, IT security, or business informatics (tertiary level) with solid legal knowledge or completed studies in law with solid IT knowledge
- Professional development or certification in IT security and/or IT auditing or in data protection is an advantage
- Knowledge of IT security, network technologies, system architectures, and software/cloud environments
- Initiative, reliability, discretion, and integrity
- Communication skills and teamwork attitude as well as negotiation skills
- Knowledge of an additional cantonal language is an advantage
