The Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology METAS is the reference institute for measurements and measuring instruments in Switzerland. To ensure that a litre is always a litre (e.g. when refuelling), METAS carries out calibrations, conformity assessments and consultations for industry, research and administration. Measurement accuracy builds trust, especially at societal and political levels, and is essential in many areas: road traffic, electricity billing, time transmission, environmental and health measurements, etc. At METAS, various disciplines come together and complement each other – and this has been the case since 1862.

Your tasks

• Technically demanding calibration services in high-frequency metrology (vector network analysis, RF power, etc.).
• Independent execution of calibration orders in an international customer environment.
• Development, maintenance and quality assurance of selected measuring stations.
• Technical support for project and development work of the laboratory.

Your profile

• Completed vocational training (e.g. physics laboratory technician EFZ or electronics technician EFZ) with several years of experience in a comparable field of work, supplemented by a higher vocational qualification (Federal Diploma/Certificate of Competence or HF Diploma)
• Experience in operating and maintaining measurement systems for high-frequency measurement technology combined with an interest in highly accurate measurement. You have well-developed fine motor skills and basic knowledge of software development.
• You have a strong customer and service orientation and work in a structured, independent and reliable manner.
• You enjoy working in a team, show initiative, flexibility and resilience.
• You have good communication skills in spoken and written technical English and in a second official language (German/French).
