The Hospital Network Appenzell Ausserrhoden, with the acute hospital Herisau and the Psychiatric Centre AR in Herisau, ensures extended basic medical care for the population in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden and is also the first point of contact for a large part of the population in the surrounding region. Both locations are relevant for care within the canton and beyond.

We are looking for

In the Finance Department under the direction of Mr Patrick Bürli, Mr Thorsten Veldenzer is seeking a committed and experienced individual in the field of medical controlling & coding who contributes to high-quality medical coding with expertise, care, and enthusiasm for collaboration.

Your tasks

• You independently code the diagnoses and treatments of our inpatient cases according to the applicable Swiss coding guidelines and SwissDRG.
• You review medical documentation, recognise relevant connections, and ensure complete, correct, and comprehensible coding.
• You work closely with the medical staff, nursing, and other specialist departments and support them with questions regarding medical documentation and coding.
• You check the coding quality and contribute your experience and ideas to the continuous improvement of our processes.
• Your work makes an important contribution to the quality of our medical performance data and to appropriate hospital financing.

Your profile

• You have several years of professional experience in medical coding according to SwissDRG, ideally with a federal certificate as a Medical Coder.
• You have a basic medical education, for example in nursing, as a doctor, or in a comparable health profession.
• You possess a good understanding of medical contexts and can follow complex disease courses based on the documentation.
• You work independently, carefully, and in a structured manner and place great value on high coding quality.
• You are an open, reliable, and team-oriented person who appreciates professional exchange.
