About the job
BEA – ever heard of it? Our biggest event as an in-house trade fair but just one of 300 to 500 events per year on our site. Yes, that is more than one event per day, we work in parallel, across all formats such as congress, trade fair, concert, AGM, culture, training and much more. Boredom? We don’t know it at BERNEXPO.
And right in the middle of it all, you stand as the new Project Manager
As a team member in the "Project Management own events" area, you are responsible for ensuring that everything is ready for the trade fair on day X. You are the contact person for our exhibitors and your colleagues from Sales and Operations. Sometimes you are the rock in the surf, sometimes a strategic planner and then again the troubleshooter when it comes to creative solutions. You always think economically and aim to steer the maximum financial success for your trade fair, as well as satisfied customers on both the exhibitor and visitor sides.
You pull together with the project team and if that is not the case, you find the best solution for the company together.
Your thinking is characterised by efficiency and quality, cost and revenue are your metrics, you appreciate working with people and are a team player, resources are your most valuable asset and their use is planned cleanly, efficiently and effectively. You are satisfied when our customers are satisfied and the BERNEXPO team has a smile on their face.
You bring the following profile:
Education and Training
- Completed training with further education in project or event management or comparable qualification
- Solid project management skills (planning, control, resource and time management, controlling)
- Language skills: German (business fluent), French and English are an advantage
Professional Experience
- Experience in independently managing and implementing projects, preferably events in the trade fair, event or congress environment
- Confident handling of project management and office tools; knowledge of CRM and BI systems is an advantage
Personal Characteristics
- Entrepreneurial thinking and a strong desire to successfully develop events further
- Leadership strength, decisiveness and a high sense of responsibility
- Structured, forward-looking and solution-oriented working style
- Ability to set priorities, delegate tasks and keep an overview even in dynamic event situations
- Strong communication skills, assertiveness and enjoyment in working with different people
- High customer and service orientation as well as a sense for attractive event experiences
- Quality awareness, initiative and willingness to critically question existing solutions
What we offer you:
You keep the Bern trade fair site turning with your team, no day is like the other and you have the space and competence to successfully carry out your job. Our team pitches in and functions independently in daily business, knows what to do and can do what it does.

If you want to take responsibility as a project manager and get the most diverse trade fair formats off the ground with your team, and can also roll up your sleeves yourself, then you fit in with our crew. We look forward to your application.
