Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.

The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of seven main departments of JuWe. With 399 places, JVA Pöschwies is the largest closed correctional facility for men in Switzerland. It fulfills a central state function and, according to legal mandate, is responsible for the resocialization of prisoners and the protection of the public.

To strengthen our security department, we are looking for a committed and responsible individual as a supervisor / caregiver to start immediately or by arrangement.

Since the activity regularly includes body searches of men, we can only consider applications from male candidates for this position.

This is your field of activity

• You supervise, occupy, and accompany inmates within the daily structures and act as a contact person for concerns
• You ensure an orderly daily routine, enforce safety and service regulations, and are able to recognize and manage critical situations
• Furthermore, you participate in leisure and group activities of the prisoners
• You take on administrative tasks such as writing reports and documenting events

This is what you bring

• You have completed vocational training with a federal certificate of competence, (specialized) maturity, specialized middle school certificate, or an equivalent qualification and ideally have professional experience in a similar care function
• You have very good oral and written German skills and ideally knowledge of another language
• You are proficient in using the MS Office suite
• You are both mentally and physically resilient and can accommodate changing working hours (on-call and weekend duties) with your other commitments
• You have an impeccable reputation (i.e., no entries in the criminal record and debt enforcement register) and are at least 25 years old
