Vocational school teacher for general education approx. 25%Justice Enforcement and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measures enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Pöschwies Correctional Facility (JVA) is one of eight main departments of JuWe. The JVA Pöschwies, with 399 places, is the largest closed correctional facility in Switzerland for men. It fulfils a central state function and, according to legal mandate, is responsible for the resocialisation of incarcerated persons and the protection of the public.
For the vocational basic education of incarcerated persons, we are looking for a general education (AbU) teacher with a flair for special tasks from 1 August 2026 or by arrangement.
Your tasks include
- General education (AbU) for male incarcerated persons completing vocational training in closed detention
- Teaching in small groups of 1 to 4 learners with different educational backgrounds and training levels
- Designing practical lessons for learners from various professions
- Organisational and content-related involvement in qualification procedures
- Close cooperation with vocational trainers, BK teachers, the Education & Leisure management, and other stakeholders in enforcement
You bring with you
- Teaching diploma for general education (AbU) at secondary level II or near completion of training
- You have a position at a vocational school and wish to increase your workload
- Ideally experience in supervising in-depth projects and preparing for the AbU qualification procedure
- Independent working style, enjoyment of modern teaching, and confidence in using digital media
- Resilience, empathy, flexibility, and enjoyment of working with diverse stakeholders
- Minimum age of 25 years and an impeccable record
