About the job
Learn museum work: You will gain a versatile insight into the museum and exhibition activities of the Art before 1800 department and gather valuable experience in a committed team.
Collection care and scientific research: The focus of the activity is supporting the curator of Art before 1800 in collection maintenance, scientific research, and the conception, preparation, organisation, and implementation of exhibition projects of the department. This includes administrative and organisational tasks, maintaining artist dossiers, writing exhibition labels, and responding to scientific enquiries.
Data maintenance: This also includes working with the collection database (MuseumPlus).
Exhibition preparation and organisation: Your further tasks include administrative and content-related collaboration in the preparation and implementation of special and temporary exhibitions of the Art before 1800 department.
Publications: You support the head of department in text and image editing of exhibition catalogues and publications.
Experience: You bring a great interest in museum work, possess knowledge of art before 1800, ideally with a focus on Early German painting, as well as good IT skills. Initial experience with databases is advantageous.
Personality: You are a responsible, open-minded, and enthusiastic person who enjoys working in a team. A quick grasp, high reliability, independence, resilience, and flexibility complete your profile.
Education: A completed university degree in art history (Master's) is a prerequisite for application.
Language: You have excellent communication skills and very good German and English knowledge. Additional language skills (French) are desirable.
