Your tasks
You will complete a two-year advanced vocational training while employed, aiming to practise the police profession at the Cantonal Police of Fribourg. The main tasks include:
- Preventing impairments to public safety and order and intervening if necessary;
- Detecting criminal offences, securing evidence and investigating the perpetrators in accordance with the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure;
- Enforcing administrative and judicial decisions;
- Responding to emergency calls and alarms, conducting rescue operations and providing first aid in cases of serious danger or accidents;
- Preventing criminal offences.

The Cantonal Police is subordinate to the Directorate of Security, Justice and Sport. Its mission is generally to ensure public safety, maintain order and enforce laws.
It serves the population and the authorities. To this end, it carries out a large number of diverse and demanding tasks 24 hours a day, 365 days a year: emergency operations, detection of criminal offences, crime prevention, investigations, etc. The increasingly important role of the police in solving social problems requires tact and expertise from officers.
The Cantonal Police is also responsible for road traffic safety. It provides assistance to organisers of public events to ensure safety. It supports cantonal and municipal authorities in serious incidents.
The Cantonal Police consists of two main corps, the Gendarmerie and the Criminal Police, and three divisions: Command, Logistics and IT, HR and Training.
