Responsibilities

Train traffic control is an indispensable part of railway operations. Here, you ensure that our passengers reach their destination safely and punctually.

From 1 August 2027, we are looking for you for the 3-year training as a railway worker in train traffic control (m/f/d) for DB InfraGO AG at the Halle (Saale) location. The vocational school is located in Edisonstraße in Schkeuditz (near Leipzig). If certain requirements are met, we support you with longer commuting distances (for example financially).

With the training, you will become a coordinator of our trains. For this, you do not sit on the train but in a control centre (called a "signal box"). We have countless of these throughout Germany. You can observe the trains in your area via screens or boards and influence the trains’ journeys using buttons, keys, and levers. By pressing a button, you can set signals (traffic lights for trains) to green or red and also switch points so that trains can change tracks. Many other tasks make you the most important team member for the train drivers. You are constantly in contact and exchange information, for example about changes during the journey.

With your small team, you work in the region at a signal box close to the action. Here, you see the trains passing by. The control of the trains is usually done via levers, push buttons, or rotary switches.

This is what to expect in your training:

Your colleagues will show you step by step how to operate the technology in a signal box correctly

You will learn when to press the right keys and buttons to switch signals (traffic lights) or points (transitions for track changes)

You will often be in contact with other employees in train traffic control and control centres as well as with train drivers

You are an important part of our team and enable our passengers to travel safely and punctually with our trains

Skills

Your profile:

You have (soon) successfully completed school and your school leaving certificate is recognised in Germany

Your German language skills correspond to at least the B2 level

You remain calm and keep an overview even in demanding situations

You like to take responsibility and work with concentration

You are characterised by teamwork and reliability

You are willing to work in shifts

Attractive remuneration

Depending on the year of training, between 1,324 euros and 1,531 euros per month plus Christmas bonus. * Remuneration amounts are valid from 01.07.2026. The employment conditions apply to the vast majority of trainees in the DB Group.
