KNIES CHILDREN'S ZOO - Since 1962, the zoo has offered a close-up animal experience for young and old.

Embark on an exciting journey into the world of Knies Children's Zoo Rapperswil! With around 300 animals, facilities focused on biodiversity, various attractions, two restaurants, and the event location "Knies Magic Hat", we offer a lot of variety and a unique working environment.

There is always something to do at Knies Children's Zoo: enclosures, buildings, facilities, infrastructure, and our event venue "Knies Magic Hat" need to be maintained, repaired, or further developed.

Are you a skilled craftsman with a passion for wood, an interest in technology, and a variety of tasks? Whether carpenter, joiner, or all-round craftsman, what matters is your feel for materials, technical understanding, and willingness to get stuck in.

Then we are looking for you starting 1 November 2026 or by arrangement.

Your main tasks:

• General operational maintenance throughout Knies Children's Zoo
• Repair, maintenance, and minor conversion work on buildings and infrastructure
• Working with wood, from simple maintenance to smaller constructions
• Supervision, inspection, and minor maintenance work on technical systems
• Technical support, assistance with the maintenance and upkeep of Knies Magic Hat
• Set-up and dismantling work for events and special occasions
• Recognising damage and defects and independently finding pragmatic solutions
• Coordination and supervision of external craftsmen and specialist companies for larger jobs

What you bring with you:

• Training in the wood sector (carpenter, joiner, timber construction specialist) or comparable practical craft experience with a strong passion for wood
• Enjoyment of diverse craft and technical tasks
• You like to work on the laptop from time to time and use digital tools without hesitation
• Independent, reliable, and solution-oriented working style
• Practical thinking and keeping a cool head in unexpected problems
• Enjoy working both independently and in a team
• Driving licence category B is an advantage
• Willingness to work on weekends and public holidays
• Willingness to assist outside usual working hours for events or operational deployments if required
