To complete its team, the Centre for Comparative, European and International Law (CDCEI) of the Faculty of Law, Criminal Justice and Public Administration is seeking a Graduate Assistant for Professor Evelyne Schmid.
Position Information
Start date: 01.11.2026 or to be agreed
Contract duration: 1 year, renewable twice for 2 years each, maximum 5 years
Work rate: 80%
Workplace: Lausanne Dorigny
Your Activities
- 50% of the work rate will be dedicated to completing a doctoral thesis
- Up to 50% of the work rate will be devoted to assistantship (support for teaching, supervision and research tasks in public international law)
• In particular: supporting the supervision of the Legal Competitions teams; helping to prepare or mark exams, advising students before or after exams or during the writing of dissertations, proofreading, assessing written work or oral pleadings, etc.)
Your Profile
• Curious, creative and kind person to join the team as a doctoral candidate
• Master’s degree in law (or another qualification granting access to doctoral registration in law); defended before starting the position
• Strong interest in research and strong motivation to write a thesis on one of the Chair’s research themes (general international law, human rights, humanitarian law, relations between public international law and national legal systems);
• Communication, organisation, analytical and synthesis skills; autonomy, initiative, curiosity, problem-solving ability and precision. Motivation to contribute to student supervision and the well-being of the team and institution.
— Proficiency in French, excellent knowledge of English.
— Additional assets: Experience with legal competitions ("moot courts", e.g. Cassin Competition or Jean-Pictet Competition); knowledge of legal education in Lausanne or elsewhere in Switzerland, prior experience in research or project management/event or travel organisation, good command of IT tools and German or other languages.
