The University Clinic for Plastic and Hand Surgery at the Inselspital, University Hospital Bern, is one of the leading university centres in Switzerland. As a tertiary reference centre, the Hand Surgery department offers the full spectrum of modern hand surgery at the highest medical standard. The close connection between highly specialised patient care, university teaching, and continuous development creates a demanding and innovative working environment. As part of a succession plan, we are seeking a professionally and personally convincing personality as Chief Consultant Hand Surgery. In this key position, you will assume medical, strategic, and personnel responsibility for hand surgery and actively shape its future in a university environment.
What to expect
- You will assume overall medical, strategic, and economic responsibility for hand surgery and shape its positioning and further development.
- You will be responsible for the medical service offering and ensure high-quality, evidence-based, and economical patient care.
- You will lead the department in terms of personnel, organisation, and finances and promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
- You will strengthen interdisciplinary and interprofessional cooperation and represent hand surgery within and outside the hospital.
- You will promote education, further training, and continuing education, secure the training mandate, and engage in teaching and research.
- You will shape and promote the scientific orientation of hand surgery, initiate and support clinical as well as translational research projects, and strengthen the national and international visibility of the department.
What you bring
- You hold a specialist title in hand surgery (SIWF) as well as proven clinical and operative expertise.
- You hold a professorship or meet the requirements for a professorship at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Bern. You bring several years of leadership experience and proven leadership skills.
- You think strategically and entrepreneurially and combine medical excellence with economic action.
- You convince through an integrative leadership style, high social competence, and strong communication skills.
- You are committed to promoting young medical professionals and represent the specialty competently both internally and externally.
