We can answer these and many other questions for you as part of our diverse legal auditor role. And not only that: you will have the opportunity to quickly and independently apply knowledge gained during your studies in practice and also gain experience in dealing with people in difficult life situations.
We are
Justice Enforcement and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and employs around 1,400 women and men from diverse professions. JuWe primarily is responsible for the enforcement of court sentences and the execution of pre-trial detention. For JuWe employees, preventing recidivism and the successful social reintegration of offenders is of particular importance.
The Probation and Enforcement Services (BVD), as one of eight main departments of JuWe, are the enforcement authority and provide probation assistance. Through the enforcement of criminal sanctions and the individualised support of offenders, they contribute to crime prevention and thus to societal safety. Important work goals are a crime-free lifestyle and social integration.
The Enforcement Area 3 specialises in the enforcement of custodial sentences, outpatient and inpatient measures, and detentions for offenders with a very high risk potential for committing serious violent and sexual offences.
From 1 September 2026 or by agreement, we are looking for a curious and committed personality for our exciting legal auditor role (fixed-term for 1 year).
Your field of activity
- In-depth engagement with issues from criminal and enforcement law, administrative law, and forensic psychiatry
- Preparation and minute-taking of coordination meetings in correctional facilities and psychiatric clinics
- Independent conduct of hearings of offenders in enforcement institutions
- Drafting of legal decisions (e.g. concerning enforcement relaxations, conditional release) and applications to the competent courts in subsequent proceedings
What you bring
- Master’s degree in law; initial relevant internship or professional experience (e.g. at a court or an administrative authority) is an advantage
- Interest in criminal law, forensics, and crime prevention
- High social competence and enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration
- Very good written and oral expression in German
- Good IT user skills
- Impeccable character
What is special about the position
- Versatile activity in an interdisciplinary environment (e.g. correctional facilities, psychiatric clinics, forensic therapy, probation assistance, social authority, migration office, and direct contact with offenders)
- Careful induction and support
- Short internships in JuWe facilities as well as internal and external specialist events
- Workplace at Zurich Altstetten station, possibility (after induction) to perform part of the tasks from home office
- Employment conditions according to cantonal guidelines, gross salary in LK13/AS1
- The auditor role can partially be credited towards the practical year required for the bar exam (according to the ordinance of the Higher Court on the aptitude test for the legal profession)
