Software Systems Engineer Network Core (80-100%) 

Your Mission 

As a Software Systems Engineer Network Core, you will work on improving our SD-WAN portfolio which is the foundation of Open Systems' global network operations. You will be involved in projects from their concept phase all the way through to deployment and operations. Working as part of a highly-skilled engineering team you will build services that improve the performance, availability, and security of our customers' networks without the need for human intervention in the following areas: 

• Hardware Performance Optimization 

• Data Plane Optimization 

• Traffic Shaping 
  
  

Your Qualifications 

We are looking for a Software Systems Engineer with a strong foundation in Linux internals and network performance, who enjoys solving complex, performance-critical problems through software. 

• Higher education (ETH, university, FH) with a degree in Computer Science or a related field and relevant professional experience 

• Understanding of networking technologies and protocols (e.g. dynamic routing, firewalling, TCP/IP, ...) 

• Strong experience with Linux or UNIX-based operating systems, including system tuning and performance analysis 

• Experience in software engineering with scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Python, Perl) and concurrent compiled languages (e.g. Go, Rust, C) 

• Hands-on Experience with Network Traffic Optimization Frameworks (DPDK, VPP, BPF) 

• A passion for automation, reliability, and performance optimization 

• Proficiency in English 

Bonus 

• Experience with the Linux Netfilter stack 

• Knowledge of network security concepts and practices 

• Knowledge of software and system testing practices (CI/CD) 

• Familiarity with agile development cycles
