About the job
Accountant 60%The Finance Department manages the finances of the Canton of Zurich and enables an overall view. It prepares the budget with a financial plan and the accounts of the canton on behalf of the government council. It prepares financial decisions of the government council, ensures an efficient accounting system, and provides corresponding services for the entire administration.
The Cantonal Accounting Department sets the guidelines for a canton-wide uniform accounting based on IPSAS, prepares the consolidated accounts as well as the financial statistics of the canton. It also takes over the accounting for the Hardship Program unit, which is responsible, among other things, for the recovery of contributions and the repayment of loans granted under the Covid-19 Hardship Program.
As a successor to the current position holder, we are looking for a team-oriented, service-minded, and motivated accountant (60%) starting June 1, 2026, or by agreement.
Your tasks:
- Invoicing for the Hardship Program unit
- Execution of loan repayments
- Collection of receivables for the Hardship Program unit
- Managing and processing bankruptcy and liquidation cases
- Preparing legal opening requests
- Preparing the annual financial statements of the Hardship Program unit according to cantonal guidelines and coordinating reporting to the federal government
- Assisting in the preparation of the financial report of the Canton of Zurich
- Knowledge transfer to employees in accounting
Your profile:
- Completed commercial training with qualified further education in accounting/bookkeeping, e.g., specialist in finance and accounting with a federal diploma
- Experience in debt collection, enforcement, or bankruptcy with a strong interest in public finances
- Application knowledge in SAP-FI is required; knowledge of Tilbago is an advantage
- Experienced and practice-oriented personality, open to changes and new content challenges
- Quick comprehension as well as precise, independent, and customer-oriented working style
