At the Institute of Laboratory Medicine of the City Hospital Zurich, you will be entrusted with a responsible leadership role in a modern and accredited laboratory environment. Together with the FAMH Haematology department management, you will ensure the reliable operation of the haematology laboratory and transfusion services around the clock. In doing so, you will play a central role in the professional, personnel and organisational development of the department.

Responsibilities
- Together with the FAMH department management, you will operationally lead the haematology laboratory including transfusion services and further develop the department.
- You will ensure with your team the smooth 24/7 operation in the areas of morphology (including blood counts, bone marrow, cytology, analysers), haemostasis, immunohaematology, serology and immunophenotyping.
- You will take on the professional and personnel leadership of the staff as well as deployment, duty and holiday planning.
- You will be responsible for compliance with and further development of quality management according to ISO 15189 as well as applicable guidelines and legal requirements.
- Together with the FAMH department management, you will evaluate, validate and implement new analytical methods, devices and processes and actively drive optimisations forward.
- You will analyse performance and quality indicators, derive improvement measures and support change and digitalisation projects.
- You will promote interdisciplinary collaboration and act as a contact person for internal and external partners on professional matters.
- You will be involved in the training and further education of students and staff and supervise internships as well as project and bachelor theses.
Profile
- Diploma as Biomedical Analyst HF or FH, ideally with advanced professional examination or willingness to complete it.
- Several years of professional and leadership experience in a medium-sized or larger medical laboratory.
- Sound knowledge and practical experience in diagnostic haematology as well as transfusion services.
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills as well as enthusiasm for staff development.
- High quality orientation and experience with accredited laboratory processes, preferably according to ISO 15189.
- Responsible, resilient and solution-oriented personality with an independent and structured working style.
- Willingness to perform night, weekend or on-call duties if required.
