Context

The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research and education.

NeuroRestore is a research, innovation and treatment centre that develops and applies bioengineering strategies involving neurosurgical interventions aimed at restoring motor functions after central nervous system injuries, particularly spinal cord injuries, and translating these findings into clinical applications capable of improving the quality of life of people with motor deficits.

In this context, the recruited person will contribute to the implementation and optimisation of stimulation protocols, provide technical and engineering support during clinical studies, and participate in the development of tools for the analysis of physiological and kinematic data.

The position will also contribute to the preparation of amendments to clinical studies as well as to the testing and deployment of new applications, technologies and sensors in the clinical environment.

The Clinical Research Engineer will contribute to the implementation and optimization of stimulation protocols, provide technical and engineering support during clinical studies, and participate in the development of tools for the analysis of physiological and kinematic data. The position will also contribute to the preparation of clinical study amendments and to the testing and deployment of new applications, technologies and sensors in the clinical environment.

Mission

• You implement spinal cord stimulation protocols and adapt stimulation programmes to patients' needs during optimisation and rehabilitation sessions
• You provide technical and engineering support for NeuroRestore clinical studies, including the setup and maintenance of research equipment and software
• You develop data-processing pipelines, dashboards and analysis tools for physiological and kinematic data collected during clinical research
• You prepare the documentation required for clinical study amendments and follow up on submissions to ethics committees and competent authorities
• You test and deploy new applications, technologies and sensors in clinical settings and communicate feedback, bugs and suggestions for improvement to the relevant teams and industrial partners.

Profile

• You hold a Master’s degree in neuroscience, biology or a related field, as well as the Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate
• You have practical experience in a clinical environment and ideally in contributing to several projects simultaneously
• Experience in the acquisition and analysis of physiological signals is an asset
• You are proficient with presentation and graphic design tools (PowerPoint, Photoshop, Illustrator)
• Knowledge of Python and MATLAB is an asset
• You are fluent in French and English, both spoken and written.
• MSc in neuroscience, biology or a related field - required
• Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate - required
• Experience working in a clinical environment – required
• Very good written and spoken French and English - required
• Proven experience contributing to several projects in parallel - desirable
• Knowledge of Python and MATLAB - desirable
• Advanced proficiency with presentation and graphic design tools (PowerPoint, Photoshop, Illustrator) – desirable
• Experience in the acquisition and analysis of physiological signals - desirable.
