And not only that: you will have the opportunity to quickly and independently apply knowledge acquired during your studies in practice and also gain experience in dealing with people in difficult life situations.
We are:
Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and employs around 1,400 women and men from diverse professions. JuWe primarily is responsible for the enforcement of court sentences and the execution of pre-trial detention. For JuWe employees, preventing recidivism and the successful social reintegration of offenders is of particular importance.
The Probation and Enforcement Services (BVD) are one of eight main departments of JuWe and are responsible for the enforcement of custodial sentences and court-ordered measures as well as probation assistance.
The Prison Enforcement Department (SV) is responsible for the execution of prison sentences under the normal regime and the special enforcement form of semi-liberty (HG).
For the SV department, we are looking for a committed and communicative individual as a legal auditor (100%) starting 1 September 2026 or by arrangement (limited to 1 year).
This is your field of activity
- Dealing with legal issues, primarily in the areas of criminal and administrative law, in an interdisciplinary working environment according to the ROS model
- Support services in case management (e.g. clarifying which enforcement forms are applicable)
- Accompanying or independently conducting and recording hearings of convicted persons in the enforcement institutions of the Canton of Zurich, the Eastern Swiss Prison Enforcement Concordat and beyond
- Drafting orders (e.g. regarding conditional release, open prison, leave, work externship, semi-liberty) and writing statements in appeal procedures
- Direct contact with convicted persons, e.g. in suitability assessment interviews, enforcement planning meetings or hearings before enforcement decisions
- Research regarding sanction enforcement in various legal areas
- Minute-taking at internal and external meetings
- Taking on secretarial tasks if required
What you bring with you
- Master’s degree in law; initial relevant internship or professional experience (e.g. at a court or an administrative authority) is an advantage
- Very good written and spoken German skills
- Good IT user skills
- Independent, proactive and organised working style as well as resilience in terms of time and content
- High social competence and enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration
